Health
On November 7, Bill 64-24—Penalties and Enforcement for Distribution of Tobacco Products and Electronic Smoking—went into effect. Tobacco retailers who are issued a third or subsequent violation within a two-year period will be issued a fine in the amount of $3,000. The Tobacco Enforcement program will start enforcing this ruling on January 1, 2025.

SYMPTOMS AND TESTING
Indications of the Mpox virus include, but are not limited to, a rash or sores, swollen glands, chills, fever, headache and other flu-like symptoms. Residents are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider if they have these symptoms or have been in close contact with a confirmed case.
Those without a healthcare provider should contact the Baltimore County Department of Health at 410-887-8918 to inquire about testing.

ACCESSIBILITY AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY NOTICE
The Department supports the provision of services to all clients. TTY users call via Maryland Relay 711. The Department provides language assistance services free of charge to persons with limited English proficiency.
The Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services, and its programs and activities are accessible to and usable by disabled persons who are blind, deaf, hard of hearing or have other sensory impairments. Access features include:
- Convenient off-street parking designated specifically for disabled persons.
- Curb cuts and ramps between parking areas and buildings.
- Level access into first floor level with elevator access to all other floors.
- Fully accessible offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, public waiting areas, cafeteria, patient treatment areas, including examining rooms and patient wards.
- A full range of assistive and communication aids provided to persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or with other sensory impairments. If you require any of the free (no-charge) aids listed below, let the program know in advance or complete the accommodation sections on the appointment request where available.
- Qualified sign language interpreters for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- A 24-hour telecommunication device (TTY/TDD) which can connect the caller to all extensions within the facility/portable (TTY/TDD) units, for use by persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired.
- Readers and large print materials for the visually impaired.
- Assistive devices for persons with impaired manual skills.
