Olszewski Makes Key Leadership Announcements

TOWSON, MD – Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski today made the following personnel announcements: 

  • Sean Naron has been named chief of staff, effective August 12, 2024. He succeeds outgoing Chief of Staff Dori Henry who announced plans to depart County government last month.
  • Christopher Martin will be nominated to serve as director of the Office of Information Technology (OIT). He has served as acting director since April 2024.
  • Erica Palmisano has been named acting director of communications and press secretary, effective August 12, 2024.

“These dedicated public servants bring a wealth of experience and passion to serve the residents and communities of Baltimore County,” said Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski. “With these talented leaders continuing their service on our team, we will keep advancing our vision for a better Baltimore County.”
 
Naron currently serves as director of communications for the Olszewski administration, where he has led the enterprise’s internal and external communications and provided strategic guidance to the County Executive. Previously, he served as press secretary for the Olszewski administration and as communications director during Olszewski's first campaign for county executive. In addition, he has served in senior roles for Maryland gubernatorial candidate and former Maryland and U.S. Labor Secretary Tom Perez, former Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen, former Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz's campaign for governor, and former Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and is a graduate of Dulaney High School.
 
Martin has served as acting director of the Office of Information Technology since April and previously served as deputy director, where he provided leadership and guidance in critical areas of technology administration, including budgeting, resource development and allocation, policy formation, technology evaluation, and service development. He previously served as the Office’s IT endpoint manager where he oversaw multiple internal teams and streamlined technology initiatives and improved internal processes. Prior to joining County government, Martin served for over a decade in information technology roles with the University of Baltimore. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Baltimore.
 
Martin’s appointment will be subject to confirmation by an affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the County Council.
 
Palmisano has served as press secretary for County Executive Johnny Olszewski since March 2022, where she serves as the primary contact for members of the news media and spokesperson for the administration. Previously, Palmisano handled communications and media relations for the Baltimore County Public Library, where she served as a spokesperson for the County’s 19-branch system and managed aspects of public relations, social media strategy and communications. Prior to joining the library system, Palmisano served as the assistant director of communications years with the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency and community relations manager with The Baltimore Examiner. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Baltimore and is a graduate of Pikesville High School.
 
Palmisano will continue to serve as the primary point of contact for members of the news media.
