Baltimore County Police Remember Officer Robert Zimmerman
November 13, 2024
On Thursday, Baltimore County Police Department members remember a fallen hero, Officer Robert Zimmerman, by wearing a memorial ribbon bar on their uniform or a mourning band across their badge.
Officer Zimmerman was critically injured on November 5, 1986, while conducting a business check. He passed away from those injuries nine days later. A U.S. Army veteran, he had served with the Department for 18 years. Assigned to the Western Traffic Unit, Officer Zimmerman received five departmental citations during his career and was named Officer of the Year by the Catonsville Optimist Club.
Officer Robert Zimmerman's name is inscribed on a monument at Patriot Plaza in Towson, alongside the names of other fallen heroes.
