Baltimore County Police Department and Randallstown NAACP Launch Innovative Recruitment Initiative
The Baltimore County Police Department is proud to be partnering with the Randallstown Branch of the NAACP to strengthen recruitment efforts and attract a diverse group of a candidates who reflect and were raised in Baltimore County. This initiative aims to build on the Department’s commitment to and rich history in community policing.
“This meaningful partnership presents a new opportunity for the Department’s recruitment efforts,” said Chief Robert O. McCullough. “The Baltimore County Police Department has long valued its relationship with the Randallstown NAACP, and this new initiative builds upon that strong foundation. Together, we aim to further connect with candidates from Baltimore County who are interested in and committed to making a difference in their communities through a career in law enforcement.”
Randallstown NAACP President Ryan Coleman stated, “This partnership is historic and one of the Department’s many efforts to increase diversity. It signals that the Baltimore County Police Department understands the importance of diversity. It deepens trust in law enforcement, instills public confidence in government, and supports the integrity of democracy. This trust is essential to defusing tension, to solving crimes, and maintaining the quality of life in Baltimore County. I want to thank Chief McCullough and the Department for having the courage to boldly make innovative initiatives.”
The first joint recruitment event will be held at noon, on Saturday, December 7, at the Randallstown Community Center, 3505 Resource Dr., Randallstown, MD 21133. The event will coincide with the Baltimore County Police Department’s Annual Community Hiring Event and Food and Toy Drive.
Goals of the Partnership
- Community Recruitment Events: Hosting joint job fairs, career workshops, and community-based recruitment events.
- Mentorship Programs: Develop mentorship opportunities that successfully guide potential recruits through the application and training process.
- Outreach Initiatives: Engage youth through school programs, community centers, faith-based organizations to spark an early interest in a law enforcement career.
- Transparency and Trust-Building: Collaborate on listening sessions to address concerns about law enforcement and foster mutual understanding.
- Sponsor Joint Informational Sessions: Free sessions open to all to inform potential recruits on what is needed to enter to enter a career in policing.
