BCoPD Holiday Safety Tips

The holiday season is upon us, and the Baltimore County Police Department would like to share ways for all to have an enjoyable and safe holiday:
Traveling Tip:
- Plan ahead, and allow yourself ample time before traveling.
- Avoid drowsy driving, and get a good night's sleep before departing.
- Avoid using handheld cell phones and texting while driving.
- Designate a sober driver.
Home Safety:
- Consider installing an alarm system, and automatic timers for your lights.
- Use caution anytime there is a stranger at your door.
- Be sure to mail cards, checks, or gift certificates from the Post Office or at a blue U.S. Postal Service collection box.
- Don't display gifts where they can be seen from outside.
Holiday Shopping:
- Always be aware of your surroundings.
- Limit the amount of cash you carry at one time.
- When possible walk to your car with someone or ask a store employee to walk with you to your car, especially after dark.
- Park in well-lighted areas, and lock your vehicle.
