Subject Fires Upon Baltimore County Police Officers

The Baltimore County police officer who was seriously injured in the line of duty in Thursday’s shooting has been released from the University of Maryland Medical Center, R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Family members, fellow police officers, and medical staff were by his side as he was discharged.

The following officers discharged their firearms after an armed subject opened fire in the parking lot of the Baltimore County Police Department, Wilkens Precinct.

UPDATE March 14, 2025
At approximately 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 13, an adult male approached a Baltimore County police officer outside his patrol vehicle on the Wilkens Station parking lot. While speaking with that officer, the subject produced a handgun and began firing in the direction of the officer. As the suspect continued to fire his weapon, a second officer standing outside his vehicle was struck. As officers returned fire, the suspect was struck multiple times in the lower body. Officers took the suspect into custody and began to render aid.
Both the injured officer and suspect were transported to an area hospital. The officer, who has seven years on the Department, remains in guarded condition following surgery Thursday night. The suspect remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition. This case remains under investigation by detectives assigned to the Baltimore County Police Department Homicide Unit. The officers who discharged their firearms are on administrative leave, per protocol. Charges against the suspect are pending.
UPDATE 8:30 PM
Shortly after 7 p.m., the Baltimore County police officer who was shot in the parking lot of Wilkens Precinct came out of surgery. According to Dr. Thomas Scalea, physician-in-chief of the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, the Baltimore County police officer is in guarded condition and under close observation.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., a police officer assigned to Precinct 1 - Wilkens was approached in the parking lot by an armed subject who fired upon him. The injured officer was transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he remains in surgery.
