Old Sparks Elementary School Site Project

The proposed scope for the Old Sparks Elementary School site includes court repairs, road and parking repairs and a new themed playground to reflect the history of the school site. This scope is subject to change.

Baltimore County Recreation and Parks, in conjunction with the Property Management Division, is seeking approval through the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) for improvements to the Old Sparks Elementary School site, which was designated Preliminary Landmark status on March 10, 2021.

A Baltimore County Landmark, or a Baltimore County Historic District is a local historic designation created by the Baltimore County Zoning Code. It recognizes historic properties, sites, buildings, structures, objects or areas for their significance in Baltimore County or American history, archeology, architecture, engineering or culture, and identifies them as worthy of preservation. 

Established as part of the County government in 1976, the LPC is responsible for approving exterior alterations affecting any structures on the preliminary or final landmarks list.
