Mowing Schedules

Baltimore County is committed to providing regularly scheduled maintenance at parks and community centers operated by the Department of Recreation and Parks. Below you will find our general schedule for grass mowing at park and community centers throughout the County. Property Management also works with Baltimore County Public Schools to maintain the grounds at school-recreation centers.

GRASS MOWING

Mowing at parks, community centers and open spaces is completed by Baltimore County crews as well as private contractors hired to complete these tasks. Every effort will be made to mow on the schedules shown below. Remember, though, much like your lawn at home, our mowing schedule may vary slightly with weather and other issues.

UNMOWED GRASS

Report unmowed grass or other grass-related issues at a park, local open space (LOS) or County-owned property through the BaltCoGo app.

PASSIVE MOWING AREAS

Passive mowing areas are those spaces that are not as heavily-used, including those with few or no amenities, such as local open spaces and floodplains, which will be mown twice a month.

OCCASIONAL MOWING AREAS

Occasional mowing acreage are open spaces that are only cut twice a year. These areas are "meadows" in some of our larger parks, such as Cromwell Valley Park and Oregon Ridge Park.

ACTIVE MOWING AREAS

Active mowing areas are those spaces in parks around heavily used amenities such as community centers, athletic fields, ball diamonds, picnic areas and the like. These spaces will be mown once a week, April through October, on the days indicated.
