Water Service Line Inventory

Recent federal regulations set forth by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) require all water system owners to develop a Service Line Inventory and make it publicly accessible by Wednesday, October 16, 2024. 

Most water service lines in Baltimore County are connected to the Baltimore Metropolitan Water System which is owned, operated and maintained by Baltimore City.  Baltimore County owns five small water systems serving approximately 140 properties. These include the water systems for:

• Baltimore County Agriculture Center

• Baltimore County Animal Services Facility

• Hydes Community

• Phoenix Community

• Sunnybrook Community

Review the Service Line Inventories

The Baltimore County-owned water service line inventories are listed below. The County is asking residents served by these systems to check their respective inventory. If the material status is listed as “Lead Status Unknown,” residents should complete the self-reporting survey.

Important notes:

• While no lead service lines have been identified, there are numerous properties with a service line of unknown material. If the service line material is unknown to DPWT, there is the potential that some or all of the service line could be made of lead, and therefore should be investigated further. 

• These inventories will be updated periodically as the material of the service lines are verified using methods approved by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE).
