Buttons, Links, and Anchors
There are multiple ways that Drupal allows users to add links to a web page, either as a text link, a button, or an anchor. The correct option depends on the resulting action of the link. While there are exceptions, the rules for links are generally set.
Text Links
Adding links by creating a text-link is our default method of linking. Anytime you are taking the user somewhere within the County website, a text link should be used. All PDFs should be text links as well.
Buttons
Buttons should be used when a link click performs an action, takes users to an external app or website, or when emphasis is needed to direct attention to the link.
Anchor Links
Anchor links are used when viewers need direction or access to a specific area of the page, such as a section or table that is not at the top of the page. Anchor links will be created upon request by Web Services. They can be used within pages or from social media or email communications.
