Capital Projects and Improvement
The Capital Planning and Development Division oversees projects and improvements within the Department of Recreation and Parks. Listed below are some of the projects and playground replacements the Department is currently working on, however it does not encompass all projects currently in progress.

Gerst Road Park Site | The Department of Recreation and Parks is seeking additional input on the proposed Gerst Road Park site, situated at the northeast corner of Gerst Road and New Gerst Road. County Executive Johnny Olszewski and the County Council have approved capital funding for park design, which will be based on public input and comprehensive site planning. | Perry Hall |
Gwynn Oak Park | The proposed enhancement project includes:

Hazelwood Skate Park | The County’s second public skate bowl-style facility will become a counterpart to the legendary Lansdowne Skate Park, which was built in the 1970s. | Rosedale |
Meadow Creek Park | Meadow Creek Park is being constructed on a 4-acre property on Church Lane. The park was designed with input from the Pikesville community, who wished for the park to be a green oasis that preserves open space and the Church Meadow Creek. A path system with both accessible hard surface paths and natural paths will provide access to both sides of the creek, allowing visitors to enjoy numerous nature-oriented features and areas. Middle River Recreation Activity Center (RAC) | The new RAC will be approximately 15,000 square feet and will engage participants in the world of aeronautics, in addition to traditional programming. Features include:

Rockdale Park | The illustrative master plan provides an overall vision of park-wide improvements for the Rockdale Park open space to be developed and realized through a multi-phased implementation strategy of construction projects. | Liberty Road |

Sparks Park | The proposed scope for the Old Sparks Elementary School site includes court repairs, road and parking repairs, and a new themed playground to reflect the history of the school site. This scope is subject to change. | Hereford |

Stansbury Park | The Stansbury Park Overflow Pipe project was initiated by a constituent concern regarding a clogged pipe and overflow into Lynch Cove. It was determined that a civil consultant was needed to properly design a new pipe to make necessary repairs. Multiple agencies are involved in the design, review and approval process. Playground Replacements
The Department is currently working on playground replacements in parks throughout the County. The following playgrounds are in process and the design concepts are available to view:
